Energiswap: Cleanup & Sunsetting Synthetic Assets
Welcome to the latest Energi Newsletter, where we unveil the latest strides in security, community engagement, and future endeavors.
Back in 2021 we launched Energiswap with synthetic versions of many popular tokens. Some were bridgeable to their native chains at the time, others were synthetic only. Several years ago the bridge was reduced to core assets, and since then none of these tokens have been redeemable for the original assets.
Over the years since, liquidity for these tokens has been gradually reduced as activity declined. Most pairs have had minimal liquidity and activity for a long time. In an effort to reduce technical overhead, free up capital locked in inactive pools, and tighten our focus, we’re now formally discontinuing support for all of these assets.
What this means:
What we continue to support:
Energiswap continues supporting NRG, USDC, USDT, DAI and ETH. These assets remain fully redeemable through the bridge, and are critical for users to trade NRG without the 3.5 day bridge/exchange delay (part of Energi’s security model), which has been Energiswap’s primary purpose since inception.
Large positions:
If you hold a significant synthetic position that can’t reasonably exit through available liquidity, open a Discord ticket. After the exit window closes, we’ll review the remaining cases individually.
This closes out a legacy product from a different era of the project and lets us keep our focus on what we’re building now. Thanks for your support and for understanding the importance of staying laser focused. Clearing this technical debt ultimately allows us to ship faster and better.
